The deep antique mustard-olive of this Maheshwari is not bright gold — it is the serious, warm gold of dried turmeric, of old brass, of things that have been beautiful for a long time. Large ivory and white block-printed florals cover the body generously, the silk warp making each bloom glow from within. The bold black border with its white floral motifs frames all that warmth with confident precision, the woven gold chevron zari selvedge running the full length. A sari that looks like it has always existed and always will.
